Say No to HB289

"Choose Life" license plates are specialty plates that bear a political and divisive anti-abortion message. Motorists who purchase the plates pay a fee above the cost of a standard license plate. The state would then funnel proceeds from the sale of these plates to the Carolina Pregnancy Care Fellowship (CPCF), an organization that provides support for a network of so-called “pregnancy care ministries.”

Talking Points:

“Choose Life” Special Plate legislation puts the state in the position of raising funds for organizations that deny women their full range of legal options regarding unplanned pregnancies.

Services provided by so-called “pregnancy care ministries,” including ultrasounds and pregnancy tests, are not regulated or licensed by the state.

Denying women information about all of their reproductive health care options is bad public policy, bad medical care and bad politics.
