Support the Peace Corps Equity Act and Demand Fair Treatment for Peace Corps Volunteers

Unlike most other women who receive health care coverage from the federal government, Peace Corps volunteers are denied coverage for abortion even in cases of rape and incest, and even when their lives are in danger.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Representative Nita Lowey introduced the Peace Corps Equity Act, which would extend access to abortion in these three tragic circumstances to women in the Peace Corps — the same comprehensive coverage that other federal employees receive. Urge your members of Congress to support the Peace Corps Equity Act and repeal the outdated, unjust legislative ban on Peace Corps volunteers' abortion coverage.

I Support the Peace Corps Equity Act

Dear [Decision Maker],

I urge you to support the Peace Corps Equity Act, which would fix an unjust policy that currently denies equal treatment to Peace Corps volunteers.

This outdated and unjust policy must end. I urge you to support the Peace Corps Equity Act and extend comprehensive coverage, including for abortion in the case of rape, incest or life endangerment, to women who serve in the Peace Corps.

Sincerely,
